Your responsibilities
Tenant Responsibilities - Carrying out minor repairs

The following are examples of repairs which are the tenants own responsibility.
  • Replacing locks if you lock yourself out
  • Wooden fence panels
  • Maintaining tenants own fixtures and fittings
  • Fixing letterbox plates and door knockers
  • Replacing broken glass in windows/doors
  • Maintaining Internal doors and door furnishings
  • Sweeping your chimney (if you have an open fire)
  • Filling small cracks in plaster
  • Replacing tenants own floor, wall & fireplace tiles
  • Putting up your own curtain rails
  • Providing/maintaining your own floor coverings (including kitchen & bathroom)
  • Carrying out weekly tests to your smoke detector & replacing batteries
  • Replacing plugs/chains in sinks & baths
  • Keeping gullies/drains clear & unblocked
  • Maintaining your own washing lines/rotary dryers
  • TV aerials
  • Getting rid of pests (wasps, rats or ants)  - Pest Control 0800 834 035
  • REPAIRING ANY DAMAGE CAUSED DELIBERATELY, BY ACCIDENT OR THROUGH NEGLECT - if you don’t we will do the work for you and you will be charged
  • LOOKING AFTER YOUR GARDEN - if you don’t we will do the work and charge you for it

If you are an elderly person or an individual with a disability, we may be able to give you extra help to meet your responsibilities. Please ask to be visited by a Housing Officer if you you think you qualify for and may benefit from this extra support.
